CBD Oil For Cats: Anxiety Dosage

A Handy How-To Guide for Dosing CBD Oil For Cats

The use of cannabidiol for cats has been a hot topic lately, but cats are also members of our family, so it raises an important question: Is CBD capable of assisting them in their best possible lives as well? There are several reasons to believe that the answer is yes. In this article, we will be discussing CBD oil for cats and what dosage is correct.

Every creature, even humans, has an endocannabinoid system. It is essential for the health of all animals. The body produces endocannabinoids, which are similar to cannabis’ cannabinoids. These travel through the bloodstream and latch onto cells in various parts of the body to deliver information and instructions regarding what’s going on and how to react.

That’s how CBD works. It replaces the function of these endocannabinoids. When they aren’t delivering the messages we want them to, or when the system is under more strain than usual, CBD can aid in returning everything to a state of equilibrium.

Cats also have an endocannabinoid system, which means it’s hardly a leap to believe that CBD can assist them with problems like anxiety, tension, inflammation, and discomfort in the same manner as it does us. While we have no hard evidence to support it, we do see and hear a lot of anecdotal proof to back up the notion—from tales of unpettable cats turning in snugglebugs to testimonies of arthritic cats regaining their vitality.

However, we can’t be certain since there are no long-term research (yet!) to back us up. We do know, based on the available evidence, that CBD is as safe for cats as it is for dogs. Large doses might induce unwanted side effects, according to one project, but THC contamination was probably to blame. CBD absorption and elimination were studied differently in cats than they were in pups, suggesting that our dosing should be adjusted for felines.

We recommend giving a cat a dose of 2-4 mg of CBD per 10 pounds to start. This is twice the amount we propose for dogs, but don’t worry. Cats have less cannabinoid receptors than dogs, so they require twice the amount to achieve the same results. Start with 4-6 mg of CBD per 10 pounds for cats with cancer or seizures.

The higher the severity of an illness, the more CBD you’ll need. However, start modest and gradually increase until your kitty is happier and less anxious. A little less or even a bit more oil won’t make any difference. Until you’re able to figure out what works best for your cat, dosing will be easy to approximate.

Char-Char, for example, is a slothful 25-pound orange tabby cat with a starting daily dosage of 5mg of CBD and the ability to increase up to 10mg if necessary.

Remember, it takes about 15-45 minutes for your pet’s system to reach full effect and last 4-6 hours, depending on breed, health concerns, exercise level, and their own chemical make-up.

Most people will drop the oil into their cat’s food bowl and combine it with a little of the meal. The majority of cats enjoy the taste of the oil (when combined with sardine), so they will lap it straight from a bowl!

While it may be simple, we do not advise offering your cat the oil sublingually because they don’t enjoy having their mouths manipulated.

We’ve discovered that CBD oil works best when taken on an empty stomach. Watch how they react throughout the day and do the identical procedure at night. Try it for a week, then increase the dosage size until your pet responds favorably.

Because every cat is unique, experiment with the way you give the oil to your feline companion. All that matters is that the oil works to make them more comfortable and joyful.
